Atwork opens a new office in Skagaströnd

The new office centre in Skagaströnd offers fully equipped, high-quality workspace, with private offices, meeting rooms and coworking space, for both long and short lets. The space is designed around the needs of modern companies and flexible ways of working.
The decision to open in Skagaströnd is based on the development ahead in the area and the opportunities that come with letting people work anywhere in Iceland and in the world. Skagaströnd is well placed, a short distance from Blönduós and Sauðárkrókur and close to Route 1. The town has the main services, accommodation and restaurants that support a strong local economy and a varied community.
“We see real potential in Skagaströnd. The area offers a strong community, good services and growing opportunities. Opening an office centre here was a natural next step for atwork, and an important part of our plans to give people more freedom and flexibility,” says Marinella Haraldsdóttir, managing director of atwork.
The labour market has changed a great deal in recent years. Companies increasingly advertise jobs without a fixed location, and more people work for foreign companies in Iceland, wherever they live.
“The world has in effect become one labour market. We are responding to that by offering professional workspace where people can work anywhere in the world without giving up quality or facilities,” says Marinella.
With atwork in Skagaströnd, that possibility reaches further still. The centre offers a fully equipped, modern working environment for companies in the area, nearby, and for people who work for Icelandic or foreign companies.
Access to professional workspace at home gives residents more room to take jobs that are not tied to a place.
“It is a genuinely welcome and important moment for Skagaströnd that atwork has chosen to open a modern, flexible office for rent here. This kind of development supports our aim of strengthening a varied local economy, creating conditions for remote work, and attracting specialists who want to live and work in a strong, close-knit community.
Skagaströnd is a very good place for families with children. The community is family-friendly, services are close by, and the surroundings are safe, so children can enjoy themselves and grow up with a great deal of freedom. Housing is affordable and gives young people a realistic chance to put down roots and build a good home. As jobs without a fixed location become available, and as people can bring their work with them, families have a new reason to choose where they live for quality of life, not only for where the job is.
Access to professional workspace at home gives residents more room to take jobs that are not tied to a place, while innovation and new ventures get better ground to grow on. The project fits our vision of sustainable regional development, a better quality of life, and a stronger pull for Skagaströnd as a place to live and work. We welcome this investment by atwork in the community and look forward to continuing to work together to strengthen Skagaströnd further,” says Alexandra Jóhannesdóttir, mayor of Sveitarfélagið Skagaströnd.
Remote work has grown a great deal, but many people know that working at the kitchen table is not always a good arrangement for long if employers want to attract talented staff. A good place to work matters, both for output and for how people feel.
With 15 locations around the country, atwork helps companies and individuals work on professional terms, with flexibility and access to first-class premises wherever they choose to work, without extra cost.
